Positive changes over the Easter Holidays
Funding was received from a school in the UK, which enabled SOS Africa to make some really positive changes.
They were able to upgrade the Junior Aftercare room (where Siab and Kgalalelo learn) with desk cubicles which will enable the children to concentrate more easily. As you can see from the picture, the children are delighted.
Funding was also received for a school bus upgrade.
Their previous petrol Quantum bus was ageing after 4 years of driving on rough terrain through the townships. A local garage had offered them an upgrade to a nearly new diesel Quantum which has much better fuel efficiency (bus shown below).
Positive changes over the Easter Holidays
During SOS Africa's last visit, they talked with the High School children about possible incentives which would encourage them to work hard throughout the year. During these conversations, they discovered that none of the children had ever been to the seaside. SOS Africa signed a contract with the children stating that if they all achieve good grades this year. They will take them to the coast in early 2016. (see pictures below) So far it seems to have worked!
Nicholls and SOS Africa are both delighted with how things are progressing this year and are very proud of the progress made by all 44 SOS Africa children.
